• Welcome to my website.

As an anthropologist active in Asian, cultural, and queer studies, I’ve used ethnographic and textual-based methods to research transnational queer Chinese cultures and Sinophone cultural formations.

I’m currently an Associate Researcher at the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China and an adjunct faculty member at Monash University Malaysia, where I was formerly a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Gender Studies and Research Lead at the Monash Migration and Inclusion Centre.

I’ve received research fellowships from the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (2023-24) and the International Institute for Asian Studies at Leiden University (2018-19). I hold a PhD in gender studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

I’ve served as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and was previously a book review editor for the Journal of Intercultural Studies (2022-2024) and Feminist Encounters: A Journal of Critical Studies in Culture and Politics (2019-2023).

In my other career, I’ve been an advocate for workplace inclusion, and I’ve helped organizations build psychologically safe, interculturally competent environments that support business growth and innovation. Previously, I served as Logitech’s first DEI Lead for the Asia-Pacific region and taught in the Conference Board’s DEI masterclass certificate program.

Most recently, I led Empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ Workers in Energy, a national project funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada, for Pride at Work Canada, and authored a report based on workers’ testimonies.

Outside academia and business consulting, I’m an emerging creative writer. Currently, I study at Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio (Fiction), where I received the Emerging Writer Scholarship. I’m part of the 2026 cohort of the Literary Journalism Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
